Snow Snakes at WinterFest - The Snow Snakes event at Port Carling's Winterfest is on once again, on Sunday, February 7th. Registration starts at 9am at the Community Ctre., and throwing starts at 11:15 at Hanna Park.
Councillor Liz Denyar, winner of the Ladies throwing contest in 2009, is ready to defend her title against all challengers in this year's Lady's competition.

Monday, May 3rd -- The MLM's annual Heritage Day celebration is taking place on at the Community Centre in Port Carling. Plan to join us at 6 pm for a potluck dinner, followed by a presentation by telephone aficianado Dean Clark. More details will be posted here as the date approaches.
Saturday, May 22 - Opening Day Plant Sale 9am to 2pm Featuring native and heritage specimens, with experts on site.

Friday, June 25th the museum is participating in 'Doors Open' . Look for a tribute to Muskoka's First Nations, in honour of Aboriginal Day on June 21st.

Thursday July 1st -- Our annual Canada Day Quizz takes place all day long on . Test your knowledge of Canadian and local history with a museum-wide scavenger hunt, while earning points towards a discount in our gift shop. Pioneer games for the children, too.
WALKING TOURS OF PORT CARLING commence.
Our weekly Walking Tours of Port Carling start on Thursday, July 8th, and run every Thursday in July and August. Beginning at 1:30 from the museum, the 1 hour tour by a local resident highlights the village's colourful past.
Each Sunday at 2pm -- a revised ‘Curator’s Corner’ program each Sunday at 2pm during July and August, when Curator Doug Smith will facilitate an opportunity for museum visitors to share their views about an unusual artifact from the museum’s collection.

Saturday, July 24th, from 2:30 (Tentative date) – our 2nd annual ‘Full Victorian Afternoon Tea’ at the Muskoka Lakes Museum. Fancy dress is encouraged, and prizes awarded for best decorated hats. More details are coming. |

Wednesday, Aug 11th at 7pm -- our annual Resort Night the Port Carling Community Centre. Join local historian Richard Tatley as he shares his research of Clevelenads House done for his recently researched DVD about this famous old resort.
Wednesday August 18th, from 5pm to 7:30pm our 4th annual ArtiFact or Fiction Fundraiser. Taking place at the museum, this fun-filled time includes a substantial offering of hors d’oeuvres from local suppliers, live musical entertainment, and an exciting selection of silent auction offerings. And there is the challenging game of ArtiFact or Fiction, where you’ll test your knowledge of historical artefacts ‘what’s its’ against the multiple choice answers – which one is right?
