School Programs

       The Muskoka Lakes Museum is pleased to offer a series of school programs for the 2009/2010 school year. Programs will be available at the museum from the beginning of May, 2010, as well as in September and October, 2010. The Museum is also offering in-school programs throughout the 2009-2010 school year. For more information, click here.

Summer Day Camp Programs

         The Muskoka Lakes Museum is also proud to offer a structured program for Day Camps who are interested in visiting the museum for a day.  The program includes interactive hands-on activities and crafts, a full museum tour, plus an opportunity to picnic on the island.  Please contact the Museum for more information.

Children's Summer Programs

The Muskoka Lakes Museum's new 'Hands-on History' programs are back for the summer! These include a new Pioneer clothing chest in the log cabin which contains old-style clothing to try on, a new Discovery box on herbs, also in the log cabin, as well as a pictograph scavenger hunt. 

Programs for the 2010 summer run Wednesday - Friday, from 1:30pm to 3:30pm throughout July and August.

The first hour will be spent participating in our weekly interactive programs (please see schedule below).  The second hour will include a light snack, and a full museum tour including all of our interactive exhibits.

History Mysteries – July 7-9th
Become an artifact detective to learn about First Nations’ culture and history.  You’ll even learn how to make your own dreamcatcher! 

MapQuesters – July 14-16th 
Get out your compass! Come explore Muskoka’s settlement, and make your own map!

Are We There Yet? – July 21-23rd
Compare Muskoka’s tourism from the beginning to present day.  Make your own resort postcard, and learn about your favourite resorts.

Pioneer Play - July 28-30th 
Live like the early pioneers of Muskoka.  Play pioneering games and see a real log cabin!

Aye, Aye, Captain! – August 4-6th
Put on your captain’s hat, we’re going on a fun-filled adventure!  Learn about Muskoka’s boating history, and build your very own boat!

Cottage Country – August 11-13th
Come see how cottage life was much different than it is today, including the new phone and switchboard exhibits!

A Bug’s Life– August 18-20th
Be a bug for a day! We’ll explore the garden to look at different plants, herbs and bugs.  We’ll also make a bee-utiful craft!
